Memberships and Dues

MEMBERSHIP DUES HAVE BEEN REDUCED FOR 2021-2022, as reflected in the table below.

ONLINE PAYMENT IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. You can make an online payment using Paypal at no additional cost.

Membership Categories and Benefits

Full Membership Benefits:

  • Full members may participate in seminars, special programs, summer/winter programs, and all other activities
  • Full members may vote in annual elections
  • Full members may serve on committees and the Council, as described in the By-laws

New Membership Benefits:

  • Half-year membership dues, available to FIRST-TIME MEMBERS only
  • First-time members may join for a single semester, to see if 5CLIR is right for them
  • If seminar registration is received by the lottery deadline, new members are guaranteed their  first choice in one seminar

Associate Membership Benefits:

  • Reduced annual membership dues
  • Associates may not take seminars and do not have voting rights
  • Associates may participate in all other 5CLIR activities

Auditor Status

Auditor status for one or more semesters is available only to full members of 5CLIR who have participated as full members for at least 4 years, but are currently unable to continue their active participation in seminars or workshops. Dues and benefits of those requesting auditor status are the same as those of full members.

Auditors do not make presentations, but they may have reading or other requirements. Please check with the moderator for specific requirements for their seminar.

Auditors are enrolled in seminars or workshops independently of the normal enrollment process, with the permission of the moderator(s) and as space is available.

Auditor status is for an entire semester, not for a single class.

Membership Assistance

The Membership Assistance Fund makes 5CLIR membership available to everyone.
It is funded by generous donations from fellow members. Individuals requiring financial assistance should contact the office.
